The American Council of Aesthetic Medicine and Surgery (ACAMS) Board Certification is available to qualified medical professionals who meet defined eligibility requirements related to education, training, professional standing, and ethical practice.
Defining Professional Readiness & Competency Standards
General Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet all of the following baseline criteria:
1. Medical Qualification
Applicants must hold a recognized primary medical or dental qualification, such as:

MBBS / MD / MS

MDS / BDS (for dental aesthetics where applicable)

Equivalent medical qualifications recognized in the applicant’s jurisdiction
Qualification recognition is subject to document verification.
2. Professional Registration / License
Applicants must:

Hold valid medical or dental registration/license

Be legally permitted to practice within their jurisdiction
ACAMS Board Certification does not replace statutory registration or licensing.
3. Training in Aesthetic Medicine or Surgery
Applicants must demonstrate:

Formal training in aesthetic medicine and/or surgical disciplines

Completion of relevant courses, fellowships, or supervised training

Alignment with the chosen board certification category
4. Clinical Experience
Applicants should have:

Practical clinical experience in aesthetic procedures

Case exposure appropriate to the certification scope

Practice within their area of competence
5. Ethical & Professional Standing
Applicants must:

Be in good professional standing

Disclose any disciplinary actions or legal issues
